Important Notice I have had a few reports from users that, upon starting the tracker, they are unable to progress past the "No packages are installed..." dialog. This does not appear to impact all users, just some, so it is taking some time to find and fix the underlying issue. If you encounter this, please do the following... • Post about in #core-bugs. Be sure to include your Windows version in your report. • If possible, please run msinfo32.exe while the tracker is running. Select the "System Summary" item, and use the File > Save... command to generate a sytem report. Attach the saved report to your post in #core-bugs. • Download this ZIP file, and extra it into your Documents/EmoTracker folder. You will need to restart the tracker... http://emosaru.com/emotracker/utility/emotracker_bootstrap.zip The files contained should be extracted directly into the Documents/EmoTracker folder. @here I've just published a package update which... • Makes lamp sequence breakable for aga tower • Adds a sequence break option to Lake Hylia Island when you have aga1, mirror, and flippers • Properly adds the moon pearl to the requirements list for Turtle Rock (doh) • Properly adds a sword to the requirements for Mothula • Adds either Half Magic or a Bottle as sequence breakable requirements for Spike Cave Restart the tracker, and you should see a notification in the bottom right letting you know there is a package update available. You can double click that as a shortcut to open the Package Manager, and install the update. I just noticed a bug where the "Update Available" status is not clearing properly, but it will be correct the next time you start the tracker, and I will be looking into that issue. Thanks to @Espeon and @kraedy for raising these issues. 😃

@here I've just published another package update which... • Properly adds a sword to the requirements for entering TR and MM (medallion usage) • Properly adds support for accessing Pyramid Fairy using aga1, mirror, hookshot, flippers, and the mirror Restart the tracker, and you should see a notification in the bottom right letting you know there is a package update available. You can double click that as a shortcut to open the Package Manager, and install the update. I just noticed a bug where the "Update Available" status is not clearing properly, but it will be correct the next time you start the tracker, and I will be looking into that issue. Thanks to @ozipone for raising these issues. 😃

@here I have released a new version of the EmoTracker application which disables the first-time user flow (the dialog on startup). These dialogs were causing problems for some users, and we still don't know why. In practice, this means that an additional setup step is required when intalling for the first time. Right click on the gear in the bottom left, and choose Packages > Manage Packages. From the window that opens, you can install your first package. Thanks you, and sorry for the inconvenience.

EmoTracker v.0.2.0.33 Release Notes Hi @everyone - I've release a new version of the EmoTracker application, focusing on addressing a few usability and first time user experience issues that multiple people have brought up. The main thing you'll notice is that the window looks different! Common tasks - the gear menu (which now responds to both left AND right click), the Package Manager, and resetting the tracker - have been moved to the application title bar. Additionally, we've got a new first-time user hint that shouldn't break randomly on some people's Windows installations. The Package Manager icon will also glow green any time there are package updates available for you. :) Despite being such a small functional change, this was actually a pretty substantial code change under the hood. It sets us up well for adding a few additional features that Coming Soon™ though, which will benefit the creators of some of the packs currently being developed. :) Please enjoy, happy randos to you all, and feedback is of course always welcome! Your tracker will prompt you to update the next time you start it. P.S. - @Fouton (PugHUD) and any other keyboard players out there - the items in the item grid no longer respond to keyboard input. Hi @everyone - I just wanted to give you a heads up on what's cookin' in EmoTracker land. This past week kinda kicked my butt - between the pre-holiday work rush, a lot of spur of the moment pseudo-obligations, being sick, and plenty more, work has been slow. That does NOT mean that there's been no progress though. :) • I've acquired us a Jira/Confluence server. The Jira server will host my feature/bug backlog and allow you to see what I'm working on currently. The Confluence server will host the EmoTracker documentation. I will post links to each as soon as I've transferred everything over. • The Keysanity pack is still in progress, and will be available soon in both a full and item-only style I've been really happy to see how many people have at least tried the tracker, and I hope you're all enjoying it. After this week, I am on vacation for a month, which will free me up to spend a LOT of time on EmoTracker. More cool stuff is definitely coming! ❤

Hi @everyone - big day today! I just published the latest version of EmoTracker, along with some new packages. ;) New Packs! • Z3R Keysanity - Keysanity is now available in both items-only and location tracking variants. Note that the location tracked version does not track key logic for you beyond some very bare-bones rules. You still need to know a little abou how things work. :) • LADXR Items Pack - Thanks to @JRJathome, we now have an excellent items-only pack for The LADX Randomizer! You should consider Keysanity to be in public beta, so please report any issues you may run into in #core-bugs . Also HUGE thanks to @Fouton (PugHUD) for graciously allowing me the use of his minified artwork. Thanks! Minor Fixes • Desert Palace now has an item capture location for the torch • A logic error that could cause the Lake Hylia Island to appear inappropriately accessible has been fixed (thanks @takeru for reporting it) (edited)

@everyone I'm just released a patch to the Keysanity-light pack, which corrects the following issues. You should see the update available next time you start the tracker. • Escape is now labeled properly in pinned locations • Add the missing Sanctuary chest • Correct the chest count for Skull Woods/Front • Correct an item definition issue that was preventing Ganon's Tower from appearing on the map If you have override items.json for this pack, you will not see the GT fix. Please remove your override, generate a new one, and remake your changes. I apologize for the inconvenience. (edited)

EmoTracker v.0.2.0.44 Release Notes Hi @everyone - I've released a new version of the EmoTracker application, focused primarily on requests/issues from pack developers. It contains the following fixes and new features. • Add support to progressive items for a new attribute - loop. When loop is set to true, the progressive item will wrap around when clicking the left/right mouse buttons • Consumable items now support a new attribute swap_actions. When set to true, the left mouse button will decrement, and the right mouse button will increment. You can set the initial quantity by setting initial_quantity to a valid value 0 <= value <= max_quantity In addition to those features, I found and fixed a nasty layout engine bug that caused all itemgrids to have an extra, or potentially doubled, margin setting applied to them. As this change would break your layouts, I've made it opt-in for pack developers at this point. At some point, this will become the default behavior, and those of you who have done substantial layout overrides will need to adjust your layouts to compensate by adding the appropriate margin to your itemgrids. I will provide details at that time. For pack developers who would like to opt in to the new behavior now (highly recommended if your pack is not in heavy usage), please add the following setting to your pack's manifest.json.

Hi @everyone ! We talk a lot about EmoTracker here (obvs), but I want to talk for a second about another tracker - PugHUD. When I first started playing the randomizer, I tried a lot of trackers. I eventually settled on PugHUD - it was simple, unobtrusive, and looked nice on stream. I didn't have a reason to consider switching away from it until, while racing with a fever, I made a few interesting mistakes and decided a location tracker just might be a good idea sometimes. I raced the secondary tournament using @crossproduct's amazing tracker, but I always missed the simplicity of PugHUD's tracking UI. When I first started working on EmoTracker, the original vision was "CP's location tracker, with PugHUD's UI-style". During development, that vision expanded a lot, and has ended up producing a pretty incredibly customizable tracker (more of a tracker "engine", really) that I hope will get more and more use, in more and more games, in the future. Through it all though, you could always see the core visual style of PugHUD in the layout, and not just because I stole Fouton's art during development. ;) So, with all of that sappy exposition out of the way, I am incredibly happy to announce that @Fouton (PugHUD) and I have been collaborating/conspiring for a little while now, and he has decided to retire the PugHUD application, and instead distribute the PugHUD you know and love as a set of packs for EmoTracker! For the dedicated PugHUD users out there, you can expect the PugHUD layouts you know and love, with (nearly) identical functionality, combined with the deep customization support EmoTracker users have come to enjoy, including its signature customizable Broadcast View. As of the latest application update for EmoTracker, you will find PugHUD packages, developed by Fouton, available in the package manager. I sincerely hope you all enjoy this new version of PugHUD as much as I enjoyed the original.

EmoTracker v.0.2.0.47 Release Notes Hi @everyone - a minor version update has been released along with Keysanity pack updates. The pack updates require the new application update, so make sure you've got it. Application Updates • A new item type - "composite_toggle" - has been added. It monitors/manipulates the state of two other toggle items, and allows you to map images to the combined state of the two Package Updates Both keysanity packs have received some changes to certain items. • Swords now use their overworld images (if you've overriden layouts, make sure to switch from sword to owsword to get the new changes) • Boomerangs are now a composite_toggle by default. Left click for blue boomerang, right click for red boomerang. (for users with customizations, switch from boomerang to boomerangs, and add blue_boomerang and red_boomerang to your capture layout) • A new composite bow + silvers item is available, and used in the default layout - left click for the bow, right click for silvers. Your existing layouts will not change, however. You can use item code bowandarrows to switch to it, but you should continue to use the single items (bow and silvers) in the item capture layout, if you want auto-collection to work when clearing the location where it's captured. • A new bombs item has been added. Right click to toggle a big bomb badge. This is for all you folks who want to match the in-game inventory layout exactly. :) • The flute now has an activated state; just click on the flute again • Magic Powder now has a badge for having checked magic bat (mostly useful for items-only users). Right click to add it, whether you have the powder or not. Huge thanks to @DuDude Dude for the artwork. :) These updates are currently only available in the keysanity packs. Once I'm sure any issues are cleared, I'll push the changes to the open packs as well. (edited)

Quick announcement, @everyone . 😃 A couple of minor app updates were pushed recently. One is for semi-secret stuff that you'll all be getting access to soon (it's in limited testing). Another is a change that will hopefully reduce or eliminate the issues people have been having with package updates. I'm certainly not assuming that it will fix 100% of the issues, but it should help in some cases, and will hopefully eliminate at least one potential cause, allowing me to focus on finding any others. Also - updates are going to slow down substantially this week. In addition to package update issues, we have also been suffering too long with sporadic issues in the application install/update process. This is getting to be really problematic, so I'm about to completely rearchitect the way we handle application updates. When I release this change, you'll have to uninstall the current version and setup the new version. The good news is that this will be very easy, you won't lose any packs or customizations, and it will come with other benefits to you. Stay tuned for updates once it's ready for release! In another note... I just want to say thanks to everybody who's been pimping the tracker lately. The user count here has been climbing pretty rapidly, that's AWESOME, and a lot of it has to do with you guys. Extra special thanks to @SakuraTsubasa and WillardJBradley, who've definitely shown me (and the tracker) a lot of support recently. ❤

I'm still working on the update system, so actual app updates are slow, but I wanted to draw your attention to a new Zelda 2 Randomizer pack created by @Dudude Dude , which is now available in the package manager. Hi @everyone - BIG UPDATE. I have retired the old update system, and implemented a new installer. You can find the updated installation information in #welcome, but if you install the latest update to your existing app you will be prompted to update. You will need to uninstall the current version, and install the new version. All of your existing packs/customizations will work. Please post in #general-support if you run into any issues with the update process.

EmoTracker v.1.1.0.0 Release Notes Hi @everyone - a minor version update has been released! I wanted this update to be bigger, but as some of you know, life has been kicking my butt lately. Another small'ish update will be coming soon which adds support for a few requests from pack creators. Twitch integration is now available to everybody - ChatHUD for all! 😄 To get started, add the following line to your Documents/EmoTracker/application_settings.json file, right after the "last_active_package" line...

You will need to activate the ChatHUD functionality each time you run the tracker - right click on the Twitch icon to do so. Full documentation on commands is non-existent, but ask in #general-support - a few people have experience with it already. By default, you and your channel moderators will have access, but you can edit the settings file to include moderators, and you can use chat commands to whitelist/blacklist specific users. The tracker now supports customizing the location colors used on the map, in order to help color blind players use the tracker effectively. To customize the colors, create a json file named 'application_colors.json' in your Documents/EmoTracker folder. This file should contain a JSON object, and you can add keys to override various map colors. An example file which replaces the default yellow color for sequence-breakable locations with magenta is attached to this. The following keys are recognized, and standard web format colors should be used.

Check #pack-development and/or #customization-support if you have questions. • Tabbed Layout Element • Image Layout Element • Canvas Layout Element • Map elements can now specify a list of maps to include (default is to show all maps) • New “mask_input” setting on items to support alpha-tested clicking behavior • Progressive Toggles now support swap_actions • Location references in accessibility rules now function as expected when the location has no available items A few chat hud improvements also made it in though! • Resolved a crash caused by your internet connection (or connection to Twitch) dropping unexpectedly • Added a new default permissions option All which allows EVERYBODY to use things - use at your own peril ;) As always update from within the app. This update will certainly be required by some upcoming packs that people are working that I'm very excited about, so make sure you're prepared. 😃

A few new packs and updates have been published. • The LttPSM combo randomizer items-only pack has been updated ( @Fouton (PugHUD) ) • A new OoT randomizer pack has been added ( @JRJathome ) • A new FF4:FE randomizer key item pack has been added ( @jaysee ) There are more packs coming soon - some I just still need to publish, and some that are in the works! As always, please make sure to watch out for that green indicator in the title bar to make sure you're using the latest versions of the packages you love. 😃

@everyone Just FYI, we figured out tonight that the package installation/upgrade UI was crashing the tracker on Windows 7, at least for some users. Ultimately, this was tracked down to a bug on (AFAICT) Microsoft's side, and - I kid you not - it's because of the progress bar updating. So, I've released an update that disables the progress bar updates on operating systems earlier than Windows 10 (where it is known to work just fine). I'll look into getting this fixed up more properly in the future, if it's possible. (edited)

If you have a general question about the tracker that you're considering asking, and you haven't read through #faq to see if it's answered, please only pretend that you asked it, and that I concisely responded "#faq". Then go actually read #faq. If you've checked #faq and it's not answered, ask away. If you've checked #faq and you didn't like the answer, feel to write in #suggestions, but also be aware that I probably won't be won over and I might ignore it entirely.

EmoTracker v.1.6.0.0 Release Notes Hi @everyone - a version update has been released! This update is primarily focused on pack creators, and addresses a few requests they've had for packs they're creating. HOWEVER, there are two changes end-users may care about... • A new option has been added to the gear menu that allows you to enable clearing chests/locations whether they're accessible or not • A bug that caused the tracker window's system menu to display in the wrong location when using Windows UI scaling has been fixed (edited)

EmoTracker v.1.7.0.0 Release Notes Hi @everyone - a version update has been released! This update is primarily focused on pack creators, and addresses a few requests they've had for packs they're creating. • Limited support for Lua scripting has been added, allowing for some more dynamic logic expressions to be created easily • Visibility of locations on specific maps can now be additionally filtered via extra rules • Tabbed layouts will now sync the current tab if they are referenced in multiple layouts (including the broadcast layout) • There is now a menu item which will open the current pack’s override folder • Consumable item types now advance (left-click action) when cleared with a location that captured them As always update from within the app. This update will certainly be required by some upcoming packs that people are working that I'm very excited about, so make sure you're prepared. 😃

@everyone Sorry for the noise everybody, but there was an approx. 18 hour Window where a potentially broken version of the tracker was being distributed. Whether you were affected or not could depend on what other applications you had previously installed on your system. I'm happy to report that the issue has been fixed! However, if you are seeing an error similar to the one below when launching the tracker, you will need to manually update to the latest version. Doing so will not cause you to lose any packs/customizations/etc, so don't worry. :) You can manually install the latest version by downloading/running the installer manually, from http://www.emosaru.com/emotracker/live/emotracker_setup.exe

@everyone Last ping for the day, but hopefully it's a good one. :) Now that 2.1 is out, there will be one more minor update later this week containing any little fixes here and there for things that came up post-release. After that I'm taking 1-2 weeks off of tracker work to regain my sanity but also have some really neat conversations about the long-term future. AFTER THAT THOUGH, I will be starting work on version 2.2, which has a very clear goal in mind. Entrance Randomizer Support This is a big feature, with complicated UI challenges, so I will be running a beta test process for it while I try out different UI solutions, etc. The program won't start immediately, and people will be taken into it at different times. I'll eventually be looking for people at a variety of skill levels. If you are interested in participating, please fill out this survey. Please don't ping me about it - I probably won't respond. @everyone Thanks to everyone that signed up for the Entrance Randomizer beta! I've stopped signups at this point, as I've got enough people to do what we need to do. FYI, there is a possibility - still TBD - that the entrance beta may get merged with a beta period for network-linked trackers, as a lot of the responses specifically mentioned google docs as a preferred solution due to co-op information sharing. If this happens, you can expect the first beta to arrive a bit later than it would otherwise, but regardless, beta participants will begin receiving invites in waves once I have the first usable version ready. Expect this to take at least a few weeks.

@everyone I've been looking into reports of broadcast views not updating. The one reliable way to cause the issue that I've seen is minimizing the broadcast window. I haven't changed anything recently, so if this WAS working for you, then blame Microsoft or OBS, lol. That said, you should be able to avoid the issue by not minimizing the broadcast window. You CAN stick it behind things, like the tracker itself, and that should continue to render and capture just fine. Just don't minimize it. Also, as I was reminded by @qwertymodo, do not disable Aero. It changes a lot of things with non-visible window capture. If you run with Aero off, you may have to keep the broadcast view visible on screen in order to have it capture properly. (edited)

@everyone Hey folks, quick update on the Entrance Randomizer Beta. NGL, life and my day job have been kicking my butt lately. It's well underway, and it's definitely coming, but it's not still not ready, and with the holiday season in the US upon us, it's going to be hard for me to predict. There are a number of minor change and fixes that have gotten queued up behind the beta release, so I'm actually going to push those out as a smaller update sometime in the next few weeks. There IS one slightly larger addition coming with that release, which I'll talk about more when we get there. :) Sorry for the delays, and thanks to everybody for the continuing support of the tracker!

@everyone Apologies for two pings today... I know that some of you have issues with Bizhawk. I have prepared an experimental version of a connector implementation for snes9x-rr. I have only tested this specific version of snes9x-rr, which is included (along with the connector files) in this zip file. Please understand that - at this point - this is not an officially supported emulator choice. This is very much experimental - there is little to no testing on it. If it works, good. If it doesn't, report issues, but understand that it's lower priority than addressing any issues on the supported emulator at the moment. It is also very deliberately not compatible with Crowd Control, and should not be used in an attempt to use that tool with an unsupported emulator. (edited)

@everyone Wow, so many pings. I usually try to keep announcements here pretty professional, and I'm going to stick as close to that as possible. I'm unfortunately announcing that I am force disabling the auto-tracker for ALTTPR. There is too much community drama, backpedaling on decisions that I didn't make in the first place, and a host of other issues. Frankly, I feel like most of it comes from a place of ignorance and paranoia amongst people who have not thought the problem through. They have done nothing to eliminate unfair competitive advantages, nothing to prevent motivated people from cheating. All they've done is eliminated something that lots of people would enjoy with effectively zero impact on actually meaningful races. Please continue to enjoy upcoming auto-tracker support in games with communities that are open to it, and which have community members who actually think critically about what their current level of security is. @everyone Lots of drama lately, and lots of people are apparently concerned about "unfair advantages". I want you to know that I took this to heart, and did the only thing that makes sense - I am releasing a tool for people who feel like they've had too many unfair advantages. Maybe you play on console, or actually speedrun the game, or don't suck at tracking! SO MANY POSSIBILITIES FOR UNFAIR ADVANTAGES! If you feel like you need to slow down, relax, and get back to a reasonable baseline, then please enjoy the just released alpha version of Voice Controlled Tracking, available in EmoTracker 2.3.1. This is alpha software, and I don't expect everything to work right. Based on the above, you might think I don't care, but I do. I heard from a few people that auto-tracking was going to make playing the game enjoyable, or even possible, for them because of dexterity, pain, or other that make using a mouse quickly or comfortably more or less impossible. If any of you find this feature helpful, please let me know, and I will ensure that it gets iterated on to maturity at some point in the future. Instructions for use will be posted in #faq shortly.

Hey folks! No ping on this one, because it's not critical. :) I have good news!!! There are now so many people using the tracker, and it's supporting so many things, that we have finally met and exceeded the free tier limits for many of the services that power it on the backend! We actually crossed this threshold a while ago, but I've been covering it. These services include actual hosting services, as well as development tools for things like automatically collecting crash data so that I can continue to make the app a better experience for everybody. With upcoming features like networked-linked tracking (it's in progress right now), the tracker is only going to get more powerful, and so too will the collection of services required to power it! So, with all of that said, I have set up a Patreon page for EmoTracker. I evaluated a few different ways to fund the service, and ultimately I think Patreon is the lowest-friction option available that also allows people to contribute what they can, without locking them into anything. The tracker remains completely free to use - I do not currently have any plans to change that. While I would honestly love to be able to quit my day job and focus entirely on making this app everything it ultimately could be for you guys, for now I'll be thrilled if we can just get it to a place where it's self-sustaining. All - The LTTPR admins have released a statement that adopts a reasonable stance on auto-tracking support. As a result, I have re-enabled auto-tracking support for ALTTPR. Make sure you're running the latest version of the app (2.3.2.7), and update to the latest version of my LTTPR package.

The highlights are... * Auto-tracker now works on 32-bit Windows. * Several new color override keys have been added to help out our color-challenged friends. See #faq * Developer support (via Lua only) has been added for placing images on locations as badges * Any location with notes or badges will always display on them map, regardless of accessibility * A new mouse-over behavior has been added for locations on the map that will show any badges and items that have been captured or marked in notes. @Application Updates All, I received a report of a potential crash on startup with EmoTracker 2.3.3.0, for users who may have certain permissions issues. I have resolved this issue with the release of EmoTracker v2.3.3.1 , but it may require a fresh install to resolve. If you are experiencing a crash on startup, and are unable to unable within the app, I recommend downloading a new installer from https://emotracker.net/download/ Thanks, and apologies to anybody who experienced this issue.

Hi folks - sorry for the ping, but a friendly reminder has become necessary. When you have a question, check #faq first, then at least make a cursory attempt at searching the support channels. The number of times recently that somebody has asked a question directly answered by #faq AND answered 5 minutes prior by somebody in a support channel is out of control. If it continues to get worse, I’m going to have start doing something more direct to keep the channels clean and useful, and I’d rather not do that.

@Application Updates EmoTracker v2.3.6.0 has been released. As always, update via the in-app updater. The primary new feature is that EmoTracker can now act as a client for Bonta's ALTTPR multiworld, which also allows it to work with autotracker (in fact, autotracking is required to use it). It works on SD2SNES and all emulators officially supported by EmoTracker. Enjoy! (edited)

@everyone Sorry for the global ping, but due to AWS updating EmoTracker's certificates earlier than they were supposed to, a lot of things are currently broken. I will be releasing an update to address this ASAP, but unfortunately you will have to download the update manually and install it. This is FAR from ideal, and I apologize for the inconvenience. I will post one more update here when an update is available.

This announcement is for folks who use the CrowdControl SD2SNES/FX Pak Pro service for autotracker. The latest version contains an update to the service that makes it incompatible with EmoTracker. I will be adding support for this new version soon, but in the meantime, I recommend not updating to the latest CC app if you need to use it for autotracker until I post an update. To the best of my knowledge, usb2snes and qusb2snes should still work. (edited)

@Application Updates Minor update released tonight, but it's one that warrants an announcement. Starting with EmoTracker 2.3.8.16, an internet connection is no longer required when using auto-tracking, and I have disabled the memory access restriction system. ALTTPR was the only game that ever requested it, and the community sentiment has changed enough that it no longer makes sense to maintain, especially in the face of new modes with special requirements always being developed. VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: Users (YOU) are 100% responsible for ensuring that any pack you use for auto-tracking meets the standards set by your game's community if you are using auto-tracking in a racing or otherwise competitive situation. My ALTTPR pack will always only contain functionality that is considered race-legal by the community. The same is not necessarily true of other packs, and it is your responsibility to ensure that you are complying with the racing rules. (edited)
